Dr. John Nute Jabang is a distinguished Senior Neurosurgery Consultant with a vision to transform healthcare services in The Gambia and Sub-Saharan Africa. He has a robust background in both local and international medical practice, equipping him with a unique perspective on healthcare challenges and standards.


Education and Experience:
- Medical Education: Studied Medicine at the University of The Gambia.
- Residency: Completed Neurosurgery Residency at University Cheikh Anta Diop, Dakar, Senegal.
- Specialization: Undertook a Pediatric Neurosurgery Fellowship in Israel.

Leadership Roles:
- Head of Department of Surgery: Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, The Gambia (August 2021 – August 2023). This role involved overseeing surgical services at the nation’s primary teaching hospital and main referral center.
- Head of neurosurgery Unit of the Department of Surgery : Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (June 2015 to date)
- Medical Director: Medicare Clinic, one of the leading private clinics in The Gambia (1st February 2022 – 31st December 2023).
- Vice President and co-founder: Foundation for Epilepsy and Stigma Support (FESSGam)
- Chairman local chapter: Lamin Keita’s Hope Non Profit Organisation

Active member of several international health organizations, including the International Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery (ISPN), Continental Association of African Neurosurgical Societies (CAANS), Kole-Bu Neuroscience Foundation (KBNF), Sweddish African Neurosurgery Collaboration (SANC) amongs others.

Dr. Jabang aims to bring about a paradigm shift in healthcare by integrating international standards with local needs. His goal is to elevate healthcare services, agricultural products, engineering and technology services and humanitarian services, making them more accessible and effective in resource-limited settings.

Dr. Jabang combines his extensive clinical experience and leadership roles to address the healthcare, agricultural, engineering and technology, and humanitarian needs of the region. His approach focuses on contextualizing global best practices to fit local realities, thereby improving healthcare delivery and outcomes amongst others.

Mr. Pascal Gazza Gosswel is a Gambian-Swedish nurse with extensive experience in healthcare and a strong commitment to improving medical standards in The Gambia and Sub-Saharan Africa. He has spent over 18 years working at Karolinska University Teaching Hospital in Stockholm, one of Sweden’s premier medical centers.


Professional Background
Experience: Over 18 years of nursing experience at Karolinska University Teaching Hospital, Stockholm, renowned for its advanced medical practices and research. Humanitarian Work: Actively involved in humanitarian medical missions in The Gambia, providing valuable support and expertise. Current Role: One of the main anchor of support for the Neurosurgery Unit at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, The Gambia.

Vision:
Mr. Gazza Gosswel is driven by a vision to elevate healthcare standards in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), particularly in The Gambia. His goal is to integrate Western medical practices with local healthcare systems to foster a healthier Africa.

With his extensive experience in a leading Swedish hospital and his deep understanding of the healthcare landscape in The Gambia, Mr. Gazza Gosswel is dedicated to bridging the gap between international standards and local healthcare needs.
